MONTESSORI SCHOOL

Each pre-primary classroom has at least one certified Montessori teacher and one trained assistant. Each teacher brings a unique talent set, with specialties in Spanish, American Sign Language, health and nutrition, physical education and fine arts. Guest speakers and events are frequently integrated into the day, further expanding the knowledge and experience for the children.

The teacher's goal is to stimulate the child's spirit and imagination, to support the child's self-esteem and natural desire for autonomy, to foster the development of ethical characteristics including kindness, respect, and self-discipline, and to guide the child to learn how to observe, question, and explore ideas independently. Below is a brief summary of the teachers at ACG:

Toddler/Beginner

Ms. Leslie: Ms. Leslie contributes a fresh outlook, an inspired imagination, and a warm, positive energy. She enjoys observing fellow educators and gaining insight from their expertise, while developing a unique teaching style of her own. Ms. Leslie’s goal is to help create, and be a part of, the ideal, consistent and loving atmosphere that every child needs as a foundation.

Ms. Steffany: We welcome Ms. Steffany in her first year with ACG! Having made the change from the public school system, Ms. Steffany appreciates the independence and self-confidence that children obtain from the Montessori Method. She is excited and eager to learn and grow with her students. It is her intention to provide a warm and happy environment in which the children can learn.

Pre-Primary A

Ms. Berta: As Lead Teacher in the classroom, Ms. Berta has contributed greatly to A Child’s Garden during her 26 years with the school. She brings out the best of her students by nurturing and caring for each one individually. Her vision is to build a strong foundation for the future of the children.

Ms. Marissa: Ms. Marissa believes that the most rewarding aspect of working in the Montessori classroom is how the children develop socially and mentally. Her philosophy of Montessori is to help the children become independent and successful in all subjects in a loving and caring environment. She loves to implement and reinforce this every day, which is exciting and extremely rewarding.

Pre-Primary B

Ms. Shabana: Returning to A Child’s Garden for her third year, Ms. Shabana has been in the Montessori environment for 5 years. As Lead Teacher, she likes to nurture the children with loving but firm limits, while giving them all the benefits of a classic Montessori education. She feels fortunate to be in a school where the parents, teachers, and children respect and support each other.

Ms. Raquel: We are delighted to welcome Raquel to her first year at A Child’s Garden. This is also her first year in a Montessori school, and her philosophy of Montessori is to encourage and guide the children to work independently and creatively.

Pre-Primary C

Ms. Debi: Ms. Debi has spent 6 years of her 24 years in Montessori education at A Child’s Garden. As Lead Teacher, she believes children build self-esteem as they gain independence. Ms. Debi loves everything about being in the classroom with the children, guiding them to reach their greatest potential. Her favorite aspect of teaching is watching the children experience the joy of learning.

Ms. Maria: Ms. Maria has been an Assistant Teacher at A Child’s Garden for 13 of her 17 years in Montessori classrooms. Having the advantage of working with several Lead Teachers and in various classrooms over the years, she has developed flexibility, patience, and understanding through her observation of different teaching techniques. She encourages a warm, loving atmosphere in the school.
